Thanks to the advocacy efforts of a Birth to Three member, home visitors in the North Country will soon be bringing a New Parenting Kit to families. The Kit will be provided by the NY State Parenting Education Partnership. The North Country will be one of three communities in the state to pilot the program. The Kit will include a book about parenting, a book about what to do when baby is ill, and a book for baby.
Beta Mu, the local chapter of national service organization Delta Kappa Gamma, raised funds to buy Books for Babies through Adirondack Foundation's Adirondack Gives fund. BT3 helped form a partnership between the Franklin County Department of Health Home Visiting Program and Beta Mu to have nurses distribute books to families. We look forward to launching this program in the fall.
